HOUSTON (August 6, 2012)—A woman was killed and a girl was hurt when a pine tree fell while the victims were at a family gathering in the backyard of a Houston-area home.
The Harris County Constable's Office said the accident happened Sunday night during the family gathering.
The tree was outside of the fence surrounding a house, which also was damaged.
Authorities are trying to determine what caused the tree to fall.
Lt. Kenneth Key says family members heard a loud popping as the tree came down.
Key said the injured girl was taken to a hospital, but details on her condition weren't immediately available.
The names of the two victims weren’t immediately released.
