Two Area Hospitals Reach New Deal With Blue Cross Blue Shield

KILLEEN (June 27, 2014) The Adventist Health System has reached an agreement with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas that restores Metroplex Hospital in Killeen and Rollins Brook Community Hospital in Lampasas to the Blue Cross Blue Shield network.

The two hospitals were dropped from the network in April.

The multi-year agreement ends an impasse over reimbursement rates, which left thousands of area residents faced with a decision about whether to pay higher out-of-network fees for service or to seek medical care at other facilities that were part of the network.

Effective July 1, area residents covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield may begin scheduling hospital services and physician care at Metroplex and Rollins Brook on an in-network basis.

“We are pleased to once again be able to provide great care to Blue Cross and Blue Shield members in our community,” said Metroplex President and CEO Carlyle Walton.

Blue Cross Blue Shield members with questions about benefits may either call the customer service numbers on the back of their ID cards or use the members’ site online.
