BELTON (May 22, 2014) Belton police are investigating to determine whether prescription drugs were involved in a lunch-hour incident Thursday that sent two Belton High School students to hospitals and a third home with a parent.

Several ambulances were sent to the school at around 12:15 p.m. Thursday in response to the incident.

Police are focusing on possible prescription drug use and don’t think illegal drugs or alcohol were involved, Belton spokesman Paul Romer said.

What a Belton ISD spokesman described as an “isolated medical incident” happened sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Thursday at the school.

Kyle DeBeer confirmed that two students were taken to hospitals and that a third was set home with a parent.

All three were conscious and their conditions aren’t considered serious at this time, he said.

A school resource officer is also investigating, he said.
