LONGVIEW (December 21, 2012)--Two people charged in the beating death of an East Texas man who allegedly tried to recover some of his stolen items were jailed Friday.
Gregg County Jail records show Sarah Haslam and Daniel Paul Jones of Longview were held Friday on capital murder and aggravated kidnapping charges.
Haslam's bond was set at $1.3 million and Jones is jailed in lieu of $1.35 million.
The two were charged Thursday, a day after the body of Ronnie Gammage of Longview was found in Upshur County.
Gammage was mugged Nov. 29 and told Longview police that his wallet was stolen.
Haslam and Jones later allegedly tried but failed to cash a $400 check from Gammage, who evidently paid to get some items returned.
Relatives reported him missing Dec. 4.
