SAN ANTONIO (February 4, 2013)--Two people were killed early Monday in San Antonio after a driver lost control of his car, which flipped, went airborne over an embankment and landed on railroad tracks where it collided with a train, police said.
The two killed in the early Monday wreck were identified only as a man and woman in their mid-20s.
The driver of the car survived and was hospitalized for treatment of broken bones.
Police say they’re questioning him.
Officers say they believe alcohol may have contributed to the crash and if that’s the case, the driver could be charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter.
Police Sgt. Shane Nagy said the train’s crew told officers it was impossible to stop the train in time to avoid hitting the already mangled car after it landed on the tracks.
