FREDERICKSBURG (May 9, 2013)--A small plane crashed Thursday less than a mile from the runway of the city airport in Fredericksburg in the Texas Hill Country.
The Texas Department of Public Safety was notified shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday that the Cessna 182 went down near Fredericksburg.
Fredericksburg city spokeswoman Juli Bahlinger says the aircraft crashed in a pasture near the airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the single-engine plane departed from Spinks Airport in Fort Worth.
Justice of the Peace Louis Rech said the man and a woman aboard the plane were both killed.
Their names won’t be released until autopsies have been completed.
Investigators for the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are en route to the scene.
