AUSTIN (August 20, 2013)--Emergency crews rescued a man and a woman who fell about 30 feet from a cliff along a rugged hiking trial in Austin.
Austin Fire Department Battalion Chief Warren Weidler said the victims evidently were walking on a trail early Tuesday near Pennybacker Bridge when they fell.
Weidler said the area has a series of cliffs.
Department spokesman Reggie Tait says the woman was able to call 911.
She was found walking in a nearby parking lot and treated for trauma from the fall.
Tait says an injured man was found on a ledge near the Lake Austin-area cliff and he was treated for a leg problem.
They were both taken to an Austin hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
