Two Injured Early Tuesday In Explosion, Fire At Texas Oil Storage Facility

VAN (January 29, 2013)--Two people were seriously injured early Tuesday in an explosion and fire at an oil storage facility in East Texas.

Van Zandt County Emergency Management Coordinator Chuck Allen says authorities were called before 3 a.m. Tuesday about an explosion at the facility north of Van about 75 miles east of Dallas.

Allen said the two people who were injured were smoking on top of the storage tanks when one of the tanks exploded.

Both victims are 24 years old and Allen said one was on life support.

Two of the facility's five oil storage tanks are on fire and firefighters are trying to keep the flames from spreading to others.
