Two Local Officials On Paid Leave, City Not Saying Why

KILLEEN (November 14, 2012)—Killeen’s director of finance, Barbara Gonzales, and fleet services director, Kim Randall, both remained on paid administrative leave Wednesday pending the completion of an internal investigation, but officials aren’t talking about what’s behind the suspensions or the probe.

Gonzales and Randall were both placed on administrative leave last month, the city confirmed Wednesday, but no details were released.

“Barbara Gonzales and Kim Randall were placed on administrative leave October 5 pending the results of an internal investigation. The investigation is ongoing, and the City of Killeen will have no further comment until the investigation has concluded,” City Manager Glenn Morrison said in a brief statement.

Gonzales was hired in 2003 as the city’s general services director and was named finance director in March 2007. She also served as assistant director of finance from 1990 to 1995, the city said.

She heads the department responsible for the city’s fiscal management and oversees the accounting, purchasing, print services, building services, custodial services, fleet services and utility collections divisions.

Randall has worked for the city since 1988 and oversees maintenance and repair of all city-owned vehicles.

Acting directors were named during Randall’s and Gonzales’ absence, the city said.
