WACO (January 14, 2013)—Resendo Lara-Zapata, 18, and a 15-year-old boy whose name was not released, were in custody Monday after a sexual assault in a backyard or alley in a Waco neighborhood.
A passerby found the victim at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, picked her up and called 911, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Monday.
Officers determined she was sexually assaulted in a backyard or alley near the intersection of North 9th and Colcord Avenue and investigators think she may have known her attackers, Swanton said.
The two teenagers were arrested Sunday night and the victim was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, Swanton said.
Lara-Zapata was in the McLennan County Jail Monday and the other teenager was in the Bill Logue Juvenile Justice Center.
