Two Missing After Storms Dump Heavy Rain On Dallas, Fort Worth

DALLAS (August 19, 2012)—A search was underway Sunday for two men who were swept into creeks after thunderstorms dumped as much as 4 inches of rain on the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman Richard Harrison told The Associated Press crews resumed searching Sunday for a man who was swept into a creek on the east side of the city Saturday night.

A witness told them that the man had stepped into the creek to cool off.

Lt. Jerome Henry of Dallas-Fire Rescue told The Dallas Morning News that the search resumed Sunday for a man who was swept away in Dallas' White Rock Creek.

Witnesses said the man was fishing when he lost his footing.

The storms caused street flooding, stranded drivers and a partial cave-in of the roof of the Urban Inter Tribal Center of Texas.
