LINDALE (January 17, 2014) Two firefighters were injured, one critically, while battling a house fire early Friday morning in Lindale in East Texas.
The two firefighters suffered burns when a part of the house collapsed.
Lindale Volunteer Fire Department firefighter Joe Yeakley, 52, was flown to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas in critical, but stable condition, Lt. Aaron Munn said.
Yeakley has severe burns to his hands and face and briefly was trapped in the burning structure, Munn said.
A firefighter with the Dixie Volunteer Fire Department, Caleb Snider, was treated for minor burns and later released from a Tyler hospital.
Munn says the man who lives in the house escaped unharmed.
