Two Texas Men Arrested In Robberies That Targeted Fishermen

OLMITO (August 9, 2014) Two men were in custody Saturday in South Texas, charged in connection with armed robberies that targeted people who were fishing in remote areas.

Deputies and U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested Jesse Ibarra, 22, and Felix Padilla, 31, in La Paloma after a foot chase, Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio said.

They're each charged with aggravated armed robbery, engaging in organized criminal activity and other offenses.

They’re held in the Cameron County jail in lieu of bonds of more than $750,000 each.

Two other men were arrested earlier in the shooting death of off-duty Border Patrol Agent Javier Vega, Jr., who was fishing with his family Aug. 3 near Santa Monica.

Vega's father was shot and wounded in the robbery attempt.
