Two Texas Officers Injured In Exchange Of Gunfire

CORPUS CHRISTI (March 20, 2014) An exchange of gunfire Thursday afternoon in Corpus Christi left two police officers wounded and the suspected gunman, who commandeered a police vehicle after he was shot, in critical condition.

The unidentified officers responded Thursday afternoon to a report of a suspicious person and shots were fired as the officers approached the man on a city street.

Police say the man shot one officer in the leg and the other in the leg and in the area of the neck and shoulder.

Both were officers in stable condition at a Corpus Christi hospital.

The unidentified suspect was shot in the chest, but was still able to jump into a police SUV and flee.

The man was arrested a short time later after the SUV struck a utility pole.
