WACO (March 6, 2013)—Police identified a woman killed Tuesday evening in a two-vehicle crash in a Waco neighborhood as Melissa Ann Fields, 33.

She was pronounced dead at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday at the scene of the accident at North 22nd Street and Olive Avenue.

Fields was driving a 2003 Hyundai Elantra west on Olive when a 2004 Ford Expedition that was southbound on North. 22nd Street collided with the car, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

The driver of the SUV failed to yield right of way, Swanton said.

Fields was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

McLennan County Justice of the Peace Pete Peterson ordered an autopsy.

The driver of the SUV, whom police identified as Richard Angel Garcia, 24, was injured in the crash.

He was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center.

The police department’s accident reconstruction unit is investigating the accident, Swanton said.
