WACO (July 2, 2014) A two-vehicle accident Tuesday night on East Waco Drive sent five people to a local hospital and led to the arrests of two women who were jailed Wednesday on charges including driving while intoxicated and injury to a child.

Dameka Atinga, 24, was ordered held on bonds totaling $9,000, charged with driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, intoxication assault and injury to a child.

Erica Laday McVea, 25, was facing a two-count charge of endangering a child.

Her bond had not been set Wednesday morning.

Both women were arrested after the accident, which was reported at around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday at East Waco Drive and Garrison Street, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

Atinga was the driver of one of the vehicles, in which McVea and two children ages 2 and 6, were riding.

Both children were in the back seat and were in child seats, Swanton said.

The two women and the children and a passenger in the second vehicle were taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center.

They were all treated and released, Swanton said.

Tinga and McVea were arrested after treatment, Swanton said.

The driver of the second vehicle wasn’t hurt.
