ARLINGTON (April 23, 2011)--Authorities say they believe the man who killed a father outside of a daycare in Arlington before shooting himself to death had been counseled by his victim’s wife.
The victim, identified Saturday as Steve McIntosh, was shot to death outside the daycare while picking up his 3-year-old daughter, who was not injured.
McIntosh was married to a counselor at the University of Texas at Arlington who had counseled the gunman, but who had recently referred him elsewhere.
A spokesman for the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office declined to release the gunman’s name early Saturday.
Police said they have no indication that the gunman and the counselor had any relationship other than a professional one.
Employees told officers that they heard gunshots just after the man and his daughter walked outside the center Friday evening.
