TEMPLE (November 13, 2012)--A car slammed into the side of a hotel at around noon Tuesday in Temple and a woman was taken to a local hospital after suffering chest pains following the accident.

Temple police Cpl. Christopher Wilcox described the damage the vehicle caused to the Quality Inn, at 1610 Nugent Ave. as minor.

Temple Fire & Rescue said man who was driving when the car struck an air conditioning unit and pushed it into a room wasn’t injured, but the woman, who was a passenger, was taken to Scott & White Hospital for evaluation of a medical complaint not related to the accident.

Temple Construction Safety officials checked the damage wall and determined the damage was minimal, Temple Fire & Rescue said.

The hotel remained open for business.

Information about the cause of the crash wasn't immediately available.
