WACO (May 26, 2014) A shooting victim found in a car involved in a three vehicle crash late Sunday night at North 17th Street and Waco Drive was in the intensive care unit of Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center Monday as officers tried to determine how the man ended up with a gunshot wound to the torso.
The man, whose name wasn’t immediately released, was driving south on North 17th Street at around 10:30 p.m. Sunday when his Mitsubishi Galant ran into a Chevrolet HHR, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
The HHR overturned and rolled twice before coming to rest, but none of the people in it was injured, Swanton said.
A third car hit the HHR after the initial accident, Swanton said.
Everyone in that vehicle fled, he said.
The shooting victim is expected to survive, Swanton said.
