CANTON (September 30, 2013)—The Van Zandt County Courthouse in Canton was closed Monday after a weekend water leak caused flooding.
A water line break caused the flooding.
On Sunday afternoon, about three inches of water stood in some of the offices, and several feet of water flooded the inside the elevator shaft and the building's boiler room, County Judge Rhita Koches said.
Water was shut off to the building while repairs were being made so the county decided to close for the day.
Koches says the courthouse is expected open on Tuesday, but it depends on the severity of the damage.
