CORPUS CHRISTI (May 27, 2014) Four people died in a three-vehicle wreck near Refugio after an SUV hydroplaned on a wet highway, authorities said.
The Chevrolet Suburban was traveling south on U.S. Highway 77 when it hydroplaned early Monday evening and veered into the northbound lane where it struck a Ford Mustang, which was then struck by a Nissan Altima, Department of Public Safety spokesman Cpl. Charlie Ramirez said.
Two people in the Suburban and two people in the Mustang died, Ramirez said.
A total of 12 people were in the three vehicles, he said.
Others suffered injuries that were not considered life threatening.
Ramirez says the Suburban was headed to the Rio Grande Valley and the cars were headed to the Houston area.
