Wildfire Continues To Burn On Fort Hood

FORT HOOD (September 10, 2012)-A wildfire that started on Friday has burned 100 or more acres near Brown Creek, according to a post on the III Corps and Fort Hood Facebook Page.

Fire breaks are in place and emergency crews were on the scene Monday evening.

Officials believe there may be unexploded ordnance in the area so fire crews are unable to respond to the center of the fire and have stationed themselves on the perimeter.

The fire is currently moving into a grassy area away from the brush, Fort Hood officials said.

A contracted Department of Natural Resources helicopter is responding to the area with water buckets.
