Woman, 25, Dies On Texas-Bound Flight

HOUSTON (January 2, 2013)--An American Airlines jet flying from Brazil to North Texas diverted to Houston Wednesday after a 25-year-old passenger died aboard the aircraft, police said.

Houston police spokeswoman Jodi Silva said homicide detectives who were dispatched just before daybreak Wednesday to George Bush Intercontinental Airport found no signs of trauma on the woman.

An autopsy was ordered.

The woman’s name wasn't immediately released.

An American spokesman says Flight 962 left Sao Paolo, Brazil, just after 1 a.m. Wednesday bound for Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

The Boeing 777, with 220 passengers and a crew of 14, diverted to Houston because of the medical emergency and landed shortly after 6:30 a.m.

The plane continued on to DFW airport about three hours later.
