LAMPASAS (March 8, 2013)-- Jodi Strickland, 37, of Lampasas, was free on $6,000 bond Friday after she was arrested and charged Thursday in connection with an incident in which two police officers were assaulted in the emergency room of Rollins Brook Community Hospital.

Strickland was charged with driving while intoxicated with an open container, resisting arrest, assault on a public servant, harassment on a public servant and criminal mischief more than $1,500 less than $20,000.

The charges stem from a series of incidents that started at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday when an officer pulled over a vehicle on South Walnut Street in Lampasas and discovered that woman at the wheel appeared to be intoxicated and had an open container of alcohol, an arrest report says.

Police obtained a search warrant to retrieve a blood sample and the woman was taken to the hospital.

Lampasas Assistant Police Chief Sammy Bailey said the woman seemed calm until she and the officers arrived at the hospital, but then "went wild," ran for the ER door, and had to be restrained.

Police said blood was wiped on an officer and two officers were assaulted, although Bailey did not say how.

After officers put the restrained woman in their patrol car, “the suspect tried to escape and kicked out a back passenger window," Bailey said.
