WACO (July 24, 2013)--A Waco woman was held Wednesday in the McLennan County Jail after police arrested her in connection with the theft of more than $30,000 worth of jewelry from the 84-year-old man and his wife who employed her.

Charlotte Annette Collins, 56, was ordered held in lieu of $10,000 bond charged with theft more than $20,000 but less than $100,000 from the elderly, according to the online jail record.

The couple reported on June 15 that more than $30,000 worth of jewelry had been taken from their home in West Waco.

The man said his wife was going to wear the jewelry but when she went to get it, she discovered it was gone, although she’d worn it the day before.

The missing jewelry included a pendant valued at $1,000, a $2,000 bracelet, an $8,200 pair of earrings and a necklace worth $1,100 and a gold coin.

After an investigation detectives accounted for more than $30,000 in missing jewelry, some of which was found at a pawnshop.
