MERIDIAN (May 6, 2013)—An autopsy was ordered to determine the cause of the death of a Clifton woman who was found unresponsive Saturday morning in her cell at the Bosque County Jail in Meridian.

Authorities identified the woman Monday as April Troyn, 36.

She had been in custody since she was arrested Thursday on a Clifton Police Department warrant charging abandoning/endangering a child, the Bosque County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release Monday.

Jail guards discovered her unresponsive during a regular inspection at around 11:40 a.m. Saturday and administered CPR until paramedics arrived, but efforts to revive the woman were unsuccessful, the sheriff’s office said.

Bosque County Justice of the Peace Ray Ballmann pronounced her dead and ordered the autopsy.

The Texas Rangers are heading up the investigation of the woman’s death, the sheriff’s office said.
