CORYELL COUNTY (August 20, 2014) Troopers have identified the woman killed Tuesday night in a Coryell County highway crash as Carol Ann Graves, 62, of Gatesville.
Department of Public Safety Trooper D. L. Wilson said Coryell County Justice of the Peace Coy Latham pronounced Graves dead at the scene just after 9 p.m. on State Highway 36 about two miles outside of Flat in Coryell County.
Investigators say Ford Escape and a Chevrolet pick up truck hit each other head-on.
Wilson said investigators have determined the Ford Escape was driving southbound on SH 36 when it crossed into the northbound lane and struck the pick up truck.
The driver of the pick up, Randall Todd Straub, 47, also of Gatesville, was taken to a local hospital suffering from broken bones and later was transferred to Baylor Scott and White Medical Center, in Temple, where he was listed in serious condition, a DPS trooper said.
His name and condition was not immediately made available.
Wilson also said the Ford Escape did not have its head lights on at the time of the crash.
