BEAUMONT (February 23, 2014) A Beaumont police escaped serious injury when he was dragged briefly while unsuccessfully trying to prevent a woman from driving off in a patrol car.
Officers had responded Friday afternoon to a report of a domestic disturbance when the 21-year-old woman put her hand through the partially open window of the patrol car, unlocked the door, climbed in, and took off.
The officer tried was dragged when he tried to stop her.
Police say the woman, who they say was under medication for a mental illness, wrecked the car a few minutes later.
She wasn't seriously hurt, but was taken to a hospital.
