HOUSTON (January 4, 2013)—Authorities Friday identified the woman who died aboard an American Airlines flight bound from Brazil to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport as Anasthacia De Oliveira Leite, 25.
The plane was diverted Wednesday to Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport after the woman died.
Harris County medical examiner’s office spokeswoman Tricia Bentley Friday said Leite was a Brazilian national, but she did not have information about the woman’s hometown.
She said autopsy results are pending.
Leite was a passenger on an American Airlines Boeing 777 that left Sao Paolo Wednesday for Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport with 220 passengers and 14 crew members aboard.
During the flight she went into medical distress and the crew and a doctor who happened to be on board worked unsuccessfully to revive her.
Houston homicide detectives were sent to the airport, but found no signs of trauma on the woman, a spokesperson said.
