BELL COUNTY (July 18, 2012)—The woman who jumped to her death from the FM 3481 bridge over the west end of Stillhouse Hollow Lake was identified Wednesday as Thomasina E. Cousin, 56, of Killeen.

Bell County Sheriff Dan Smith said witnesses told him the woman climbed over the bridge railing and jumped into the water about 100 feet below Tuesday afternoon.

Her body was floating in the water near the bridge when Bell County sheriff’s deputies arrived at around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The deputies used a resident’s fishing boat to reach the woman and bring her to shore at the Cedar Creek Park boat dock, authorities said.

Efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.

Bell County Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced her dead at the scene just after 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Cooke ordered an autopsy.

The bridge was closed to traffic after the incident, but has since reopened.

The incident remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday.
