HOUSTON (July 2, 2012)--Five people died over a two-day period in two separate crashes on Interstate 45 involving drunken drivers who were going the wrong way on the highway.
Three others, including the two suspected drunken drivers, were hospitalized.
Trooper Erik Burse with the Department of Public Safety, which is investigating both incidents, says there is nothing confusing or problematic with the signs, markings or roads in that portion of the freeway in The Woodlands.
A crash on Sunday morning left a 47-year-old passenger in the vehicle driven by the suspected drunken driver dead and killed two women, ages 27, and 25, who were riding in the car the vehicle hit.
On Friday morning, a vehicle driven by 23-year-old woman who was going the wrong way on the highway hit another car, killing that 23-year-old woman who was driving and her male passenger.
