(March 24, 2008) – Charlene Simpson, superintendent at the Mexia Independent School District, is set to announce she’s leaving that post at a school board meeting on Monday night.
Ms. Simpson has been the superintendent at MISD for six years, said Dan Corbitt, school board president.
“We really hate to lose her,” Corbitt said.
Corbitt said Ms. Simpson has accepted a position with the Region XII Education Service Center, based in Waco.
He said he expects her announcement to come at today’s school board meeting, set for 6 p.m. at the administration building.
He also said he is not sure how she’ll be replaced.
“The board will have to decide that (Monday) night after some discussion,” Corbitt said. “I don’t know for sure just how we’ll do that.”
