WACO, Texas—On Wednesday, February 27, the Community Involvement Council (CIC), in partnership with Baylor Student Government, will host the 2nd Annual College Community Summit.
“The goal is to bring the community together by showing students the importance of getting involved,” said Student Body External Vice President and CIC Chair Bryan Fonville. “This year’s summit promises to be an exciting time, as we look at the future of Waco.”
This year’s summit features sessions discussing downtown development, presented by Chris McGowan of the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, and employment opportunities, presented by Scott Connell of the Greater Waco Chamber.
According to CIC member and Baylor Student Senator Liz Foreman, students can expect to see and hear things they probably don’t know. “Baylor’s future is interconnected with the future of Waco. We need active, informed, and involved students participating in our community. It just makes sense.”
The summit is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Barfield Drawing Room in the Bill Daniel Student Center. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
“We hope people will turn out for this great event,” said Fonville. “It’s a great opportunity to see all the amazing things happening around us.”
