(Waco)— For Kaci Enlow, 21, artistic talent runs in the family. Both her mother and her great-grandmother were artists, and she remembers from a young age her grandfather getting after her if she colored outside the lines.

But now that talent — and Enlow’s diligence — has paid off, as her artistic rendering was singled out among numerous entries to represent the official Texas State Technical College Waco mascot: the tornado. Now, Enlow will use her $500 TSTC scholarship to continue her education at the college.

“I wanted the tornado to look a little intimidating, and I think it came across just how I wanted it to,” said Enlow, adding she choose a Texas theme because of the name of the college.

The Sanger native added a touch of blue to the funnel cloud, combined with a blue cowboy hat and maroon scarf (TSTC’s official colors) stamped with TSTC’s signature star.

Enlow, who interned at the Waco Tribune-Herald while attending the Digital Media Design program at TSTC, graduated last spring. She currently works at Perry Office Plus in Temple as a marketing assistant, creating brochures, ads, logos and more. She plans to use the funding toward a second TSTC degree in Advertising Design and Print.

Enlow’s future plans include one day to open her own graphic design business.

She is the daughter of Lewis and Shelia Enlow of Sanger.
