The TSTC Waco Student Government Association’s program “Autism in Action” continues on Saturday, March 29, at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton.

"Autism in Action" is a program promoting autism awareness. Started by the Student Government Association (SGA) of Texas State Technical College Waco, its focus is on helping autistic children in Region 12's educational service area create original artwork, which will be auctioned to raise money for local and national autism awareness organizations.

The UMHB Art Day will be hosted by the TSTC SGA and UMHB Campus Activities Board. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 at the UMHB Student Recreation Gym located on King Street and Mabee Drive in the heart of the UMHB campus.

At the event, individuals diagnosed with autism will be provided an 11-by-14 inch canvas to paint. Artwork will be auctioned in April to help raise money to benefit the local and national autism organizations and to provide scholarships to graduating students transitioning to college.

In addition, parents, friends and supporters can purchase puzzle pieces, the symbol of autism, to paint along with the “Autism in Action” partic¬¬ipants. The event is free and open to the public. Families and autism awareness supporters are encouraged to attend this event to support area autistic individuals.

For more information, contact SGA President Charity Wilson by phone at (254) 867-2079 or by e-mail at sg.president@tstc.edu. Also, visit www.waco.tstc.edu/autism for more on “Autism in Action.”
