Waco, July 2, 2008- The Waco Humane Society reminds pets parents that while the 4th of July signifies independence they do not want their pets running free after being scared by fireworks.

The Waco Humane Society offers these tips:

Please keep your pet indoors during fireworks in your neighborhood.

Please make sure your dog or cat has identification on their collar or have them micro-chipped for easy return.

Arrange a safe haven for your pet. Give your pet a quiet place with its favorite food and toys to make them feel comfortable and safe.

If your pet does get out please check the Waco Humane Society to reclaim your pet.
