(Press Release)

The thirteenth annual Margarita & Salsa Festival is accepting entries for the legendary margarita, salsa, queso and guacamole contests. The annual event will take place on Saturday, August 23 in Waco, Texas.

Contestants are encouraged to enter as many of the categories as they choose. First, second and third place awards will be presented to the best margarita, salsa, queso and guacamole for both restaurants and individual entries. Official Salsaritaville judges will judge the entries prior to the festival gates opening at 6:00 p.m.

There will also be a “People’s Choice” award, so if you are not planning on entering the contest, plan on casting your vote for the tastiest entries at the event.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the “People’s Choice” buckets benefits the Arthritis Foundation.

Attendees are encouraged to come early in order to sample the contest entries before Kevin Fowler’s 7:00 p.m. performance. Samples will be available while supplies last.

The contest will again be held in the air-conditioned General Exhibits building at the Heart O’ Texas Fair Complex, allowing contestants to keep cool while serving their hot salsa. The cost for each entry is $100 until August 14 after which time the entry fee is increased to $125.

For more information or for an entry form, contact the Arthritis Foundation at (254) 772-9303 or visit www.hotfair.com and click on the Margarita & Salsa Festival link.
