SALADO, TEXAS (Aug. 12, 2008) – For Shy Tree musicians Alison and Josh Brown -- husband and wife with Cen-Tex roots, -- this is "homecoming week." The four-member Las Vegas-based Rock/Pop band is making its first Texas appearances, with appearances in Austin, Belton, Georgetown and at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, at the Silver Spur Theater in Salado -- next to Central Texas' IH-35 corridor.

The emerging alternative radio rock band (http://www.shytree.com) is showcasing uplifting and philosophical secular songs,"fueled by real-life experiences," said Grainger Esch, Co-founder and Executive Director of the Spur. The entertainment venue was developed five years ago in the historic Sanford & Guest Granary and Feed Store. "Shy Tree's lyrics are refreshingly authentic, while still remaining positive," Esch noted..

"The Nova Glow, a popular pop rock band from Ennis, TX (www.myspace.com/thenovaglow), will lead off the evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Shy Tree will begin play at 8:30 p.m. For this special Spur event, tickets are $10 for all adults and $8 for children (12 and under), with group discounts available. Tickets are available at the Silver Spur box office, 108 Royal St., 254-947-3456, by phone or online. For reservations or more information, call or visit: www.saladosilverspur.com.

Among its current set list are: "Waiting for Me," "Excuse Me," "Sunshine and Sidewalks," which is also the title of its new album; "Us," "She Makes Life," "Sheep", "See Through" and "Home." All of Shy Tree's songs are available at http://www.myspace.com/shytreemusic. "We think this young band, playing and arranging music for the past three years, will have great appeal to families, youth and church groups,” "We are certainly pleased to be a part of their Southwest mini-tour through Arizona, New Mexico and Texas," Esch added.

"We love music -- playing it, writing it, singing it," says Alison lead vocalist and rhythm guitar player. "It's our way of making sense of the things that happen in life. We are passionate about bringing audiences music and lyrics that contain some hope in them, while still remaining real. Our songs are our own way of making sense out of the happenings of life, and life is not easy."

Alison, 29, who fronts the band, is lead guitar and handles back-up vocals. She is a graduate of The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and a former member of One Voice. Josh 29, is a graduate of the Las Vegas Culinary Institute and a 1998 Salado High School graduate. They have been performing and recording together for more than 15 years. They are "coming home" on this tour as in the lyrics of their song "Home."

Other band members include Andy Roberts on drums and Cody Cook, bass guitar. Andy is a 20-year-old drummer from Las Vegas with eight years experience, playing locally and internationally. He has played with Josh and Alison for several years -- rock, jazz alternative and pop music styles. As the youngest member, Cody was the fourth and final addition to the band. Although only 19, he has been playing in the Las Vegas music scene for seven years, and at age 17 received an endorsement with Warwick basses. "I'm dreaming big and aiming high for Shy Tree and our futures," he said.

"As Shy Tree, we've been able to pump out radio-ready hits one right after another," Josh emphasized. "Shy Tree's professional musicianship, paired with our members' deep love for writing and playing great music is driving our band's focus and success. Our goals are simple: To make a positive dent in today's music industry by pushing the envelope musically and to connect to as many people as possible through excellent music and real lyrics."

The Silver Spur Theater strives to revive a bygone era of family entertainment, offering a trademark blend of live vaudeville acts, live music, stage plays and classic cinema.
