(Press Release)
Waco, TX – The Waco Humane Society is expecting approximately 40 Hurricane Ike cats to arrive today from the Houston SPCA.
On Monday, the Waco Humane Society extended a helping hand to the Houston animal group so that they can continue rescue efforts of pets left behind in areas devastated by Hurricane Ike.
The incoming cats, who rode out the storm in at the Houston SPAC’s shelter, will all be spay/neutered and available for adoption to the Waco area residents.
WHS Executive Director Karen Froehlich encourages anyone considering adopting a cat to visit these felines at the Waco Humane Society starting on Thursday.
She says that once those 40 are adopted or fostered, the Houston SPCA has more cats needing homes.
The Houston SPCA will also be sending up 8 bunnies who will also be available for adoption.
Anyone wishing to adopt may visit the Waco Humane Society during regular business hours, Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., except on Thursdays when they are open late until 7 p.m. The shelter is closed on Sundays.
The WHS is still offering emergency pet shelter to any evacuee affected by Hurricane Ike for as long as they need help to rebuild their lives.
