(Press release)
The Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity, an agency of the United Way, has completed its 51st Home. This home, built for the Gregory family, has been made possible with funds received from The Junior Service League, Professional Contract Services, the United Way of the Greater Fort Hood Area, the City of Killeen HOME program, Lowe’s Home Improvement and countless other donations from individuals, businesses, civic organizations and churches.
This home was built under Habitat’s Women Build program. Many individuals and groups participated in this home by providing the volunteer labor necessary to build it as well as lunches for the volunteers.
Of particular note on this home is the fact that it is the first built using the Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) method of construction. Homes built using this method are easier to get Energy Star Certified and withstand winds of up to 200 miles per hour.
The dedication ceremony will be Saturday, October 4th at 9:00 am, at 602 Patton in Killeen. The public is welcome to the ceremony and is welcome to tour the home to see what a Habitat home is like.
