Waco, TX October 20, 2008 – The KWBU documentary “The War: Central Texas Remembers WWII” won a Lone Star Emmy award. KWBU Senior Producer Jessica Denk and Production Supervisor Joani Livingston produced, directed and edited the program and KWBU Chief Photographer Zachary Morris is credited for his camera work. The documentary takes an intimate look at the Second World War through the experiences of six Central Texans. From Pearl Harbor to the Battle of the Bulge to having a loved one captured in Germany, the program clearly demonstrates through personal accounts that in extraordinary times, there are no ordinary lives.

"My team and I are especially honored to be recognized for this particular documentary. As we worked on the project, we had this sense we were in the midst of something that was much bigger than ourselves. We share our EMMY win with the remarkable people whose compelling life stories continue to inspire and to change us all,” Livingston said.

“The War: Central Texas Remembers WWII” won in the Documentary Cultural/Historical category and was up against four major market entries from KTRK Channel 13, Houston PBS, Bob Phillips Productions and Electro-Fish Media LLC from Austin. The Electro-Fish Media entry, "Ghost Town: 24 Hours In Terlingua," also won in the category.

The Lone Star EMMY Awards are presented by the Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Founded in 1957, the NATAS is dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry.

The 6th Annual Lone Star EMMY Awards Presentation was held Saturday, October 18 at Verizon Wireless Theater in Houston.

“The War: Central Texas Remembers” will have encore presentations on Tuesday, November 11 at 6:30 p.m. on KWBU-FM and 10:00 p.m. on KWBU-TV.
