(Press release)
Waco, Texas December 2, 2008
The very first crops are now being harvested at Waco City Farm, the only Community Supported Agricultural Farm (CSA) in the City of Waco. The initial harvest includes over 40 varieties of fresh, “organically considered” produce including beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, leeks, pak choy and rutabaga. Over 100 types of produce will be offered throughout the year. Waco City Farm is committed to providing healthy, fresh-picked produce to people in the community who care about the kind of food they eat.
Waco City Farm is a member’s only produce farm conveniently located on over 17 acres at State Highway 6 and Industrial Drive, under the City of Waco water tower. Members receive a big bushel box of fresh, locally grown and organically considered produce every week for just $75.00 a month. Waco City Farm is operated by Dan Brown, Director of Farm Scientific Research and Hy Lam, Director of Farm Memberships. They were able to transform a parcel of industrial property into fertile farmland using a proprietary fertilizing process that infuses much-needed nutrients into the soil making it suitable for farming.
For additional information on the first crops being harvested at Waco City Farm contact Hy Lam at (254) 715-1566 or visit www.wacocityfarm.com. If you are interested in sampling our produce, please stop by Waco City Farm and ask for Farmer Dan.
