SALADO, Texas (February 9, 2009) – The Salado Chamber of Commerce will host the ninth annual Wildflower Art Show on March 28th and 29th at the “park-like” grounds of the Salado Wine Seller. The show will be held from 9am to 5pm on the 28th and 9am to 4pm on the 29th; featuring fine Texas Artisans, Wineries and Musicians.
Over sixty Artists and Artisans throughout Texas and the southwest will line the grounds with beautiful works of oil, acrylics, watercolors, pastels and mixed media including woodwork, sculpture, jewelry, glassworks, metal work and handmade clothing. “Artists in Action” and tasting booths of your favorite Texas wineries will also be a great enhancement to this year’s event. Admission and parking are free. A commemorative wine glass and tasting tickets will be available for sale; wine by the glass and bottle as well. Proper identification will be required.
An addition to this year’s event will be an amazing line-up of live entertainment:
Saturday at 11am is Paul Cox & Texas Acoustic. Paul performs all over Central Texas lending his unique interpretations to songs written mainly by Texas song writing greats such as Guy Clark, Townes VanZandt, Kris Kristofferson, Lyle Lovett, Bill Joe Shafer, Steven Formholz and many others. Fellow musicians, Doug Taylor and Michael Samuels play regularly with notable Austin-area bands, are in-demand studio musicians and have performed at Willie Nelson’s Fourth of July Picnic.
Saturday at 2:30pm is Harebilly. Harebilly is a fun-loving foursome from the Granger/Bartlett area playing for over thirty years. Having “real jobs” as they put it, means that playing their mix of Texas country and blues with the occasional pop song or two is purely passion.
Sunday morning at 10:30am with Richard Paul Thomas (RpT). A local singer, songwriter and guitarist, RpT has performed over forty years. In addition to his original material, crowds will sing along to a variety of familiar favorites. RpT has performed throughout the United States in concert with artists such as Anne Murray, Loggins & Messina, Helen Ready, James Lee Stanley, Odetta, Michael Martin Murphy and more.
Topping off the weekend is Brian Burns on Sunday at 1pm. Considered the “Last True Texas Troubadour,” Brian has emerged as one of the states most powerful and engaging performers. His songs explore both the poignant and humorous side of humanity, drawing out the things we’ve all felt and wish we could have said. Rooted in the western ballads of Marty Robbins and “progressive country” music of Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, Brian Burns as produced four CDs, all with hits much like his “I’ve Been Everywhere (In Texas).
