UMHB Offers Alaskan Wilderness Class

Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will offer the first-ever wilderness experience class in the state of Alaska through the Department of Exercise and Sport Science.
The fall-semester class will include camping, angling, deep wilderness day hikes, mountain hiking and ocean kayaking. This will be an outdoor wilderness excursion, and it will fulfill requirements for exercise and sport science classes. Students must have the EXSS prerequisites listed in the catalog to apply for the class.
The first $500 deposit for going on the Alaska wilderness class is due on April 17, and the second $365 deposit is due on June 1. The cost will be the cost of tuition plus the non-refundable deposit of $865. Students may receive class credit for one semester hour, up to five credit hours based on what they need for their degree plan.
The cost will cover nine nights, eight days of meals, fishing charter, fishing license, ground transportation and kayak rentals. The price will not include the cost of round-trip flights to Anchorage, August 5 - 14.
