Motorcycles, Tennis Shoes, and Paintbrushes for Autism!

April is Autism Awareness Month, and there are a lot of events that will directly benefit local families and organizations involved with autism.

Whether you walk or ride a motorcycle, you can do it for autism in April! And children/youth with autism in Region 12 can participate in the Autism in Action art program ...

April 18 --- Ride for Autism, a 92 mile ride open to all makes and models. The entry fee is $20 and all proceeds go to the Heart of Texas Autism Network and the Walk for Autism (see below). Sign-up begins at 9 am at the Hog Creek Ice House in Speegleville, and the first bike rolls out at 10 am.
There will also be food, music and a 50/50 raffle.
The top 5 hands and the bottom hand will be entered in drawings for prizes, including gift certificates.

"Autism in Action" is a program focused on helping individuals diagnosed with autism in Region 12's educational service area create original artwork. Artwork will be auctioned in April to help raise money to benefit the Baylor Autism Resource Center, The Arc of McLennan County Summer Day Camp, and to provide scholarships to graduating students transitioning to College.
The next art day will be April 11th in Bryan hosted by Blinn College and held at Bryan High School Silver Cafeteria from 10 am to 6 pm.
Art from all the Art days will be on exhibit at the Waco Walk for Autism on April 25th, and online bidding will also be available. For more information please contact Charity Wilson, TSTC Student Government President, at 254-867-2079 or sg.president@tstc.edu.

Saturday April 25th, Waco Walk for Autism, at Baylor University --- The Heart of Texas Autism Network (www.hotautismnetwork.org) is sponsoring the 2nd annual Waco Walk for Autism; join us to raise Autism awareness and funds for local agencies and organizations that provide support for those on the Autism spectrum and their families.
Proceeds will benefit the Arc of McLennan County's Summer Day Camp program and the Baylor Autism Resource Center.
There will be kids activities, resource and information tables, a raffle, door prizes, music, drinking water, snow-cones, and good healthy exercise for all.
A Resource Fair with area agencies and organizations distributing information on programs and services of interest to people with autism will be in the Student Union Building.
Art from the Autism in Action campaign will also be on exhibit, and the Baylor Autism Resource Center will have their Open House as well.

Registration to walk is $10 for Adults 18 and over, $5 for minors 5-18 and free for walkers under 5, although they also need to be registered. T-shirts may be ordered for $5, plus $1 for each X size above XL. Order information is included in the registration forms.

Onsite registration will be available, but pre-registration by April 10 makes participants eligible for door prizes.

Registration begins at 8, the Walk starts at 9, and all events will close at 11:30 am.
