Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor offers many summer camps.
July 13 – 18 marks the music department’s Summer Musical Camp for ages 10 – 19. Tuition is $95. Audition is required on May 4 or 11 at 6:00 p.m. in the Hughes Recital Hall of Presser Hall. For more information contact the UMHB Conservatory of Music at 254-295-4686.
The department will also hold Kindermusik camp in two sessions for ages newborn to 7 years. The first session will be June 8 through 12, and the second session will be June 15 through 19. The tuition range is $85 – $155 depending on the class. For more information also call at 254-295-4686.
Steven Moss Academy for Color Guards and Drum Majors will be hosting a camp June 9 through 12 for grades 9 – 12. The tuition is $140 for commuter or $210 for boarder. Contact the Conservatory of Music for more information at 254-295-4686.
Another music camp is for All State Choir June 28 through July 1 for grades 9 – 12. The tuition is $116 for commuter or $280 for boarder. 2009 All State Choir Member scholarships are available. Additional information can be received at 254-295-4686.
Middle School Band Camp will be held June 15 – 17 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for grades 6 – 8. The tuition is $75.00.
The art department will hold a camp June 8 through 12. The camp for ages 7 – 8 will be held 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The camp for ages 9 – 10 will be held 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The tuition is $100 which includes all materials. For more information call Jonathan Gary at 254-295-4686.
The computer science department will hold Robot Camps 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. June 15 through 19 and July 6 – 10. Session I is for 6th and 7th graders. Session II is for 4th and 5th graders. Participants going into the 4th or 5th grades will perform “hands on” robotics investigations and will be involved in such actions as construction of LEGO® Mindstorm robots, simple programming and games. Participants going into the 6th or 7th grade will construct and program LEGO® NXT robotic kits and perform specific robotic tasks, including robots running a maze, racing each other and solving engineering problems. Swim camps will be May 18 through 29 (for ages five and under), June 8 -19, June 22 through July 2 and July 13 - 24. The cost of the camp is $65 per participant. Private swim lessons of 30 minutes each are also available. The costs are $80 for five lessons and $140 for 10 lessons. For more information call Stephen Morton at 254-295-5431.
A variety of athletics camps will be available through the various departments.
The women’s basketball department will host its camps June 9 - 12. Little Cru Camp, for students entering grades 3 through 5, will be 8:30-11:30 a.m. Cru Prep Camp, for students entering grades 6 through 8, will be 1 - 4:00 p.m. Cru Elite Camp, for students entering grades 9 through 12, will be 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. The cost is $90 per camper. Co-ed soccer camp will be held June 8 – 11. Camp for ages 5 through 7 will be 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The cost is $85 per child. Camp for ages 8 and up is 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost is $145 per participant. For more information contact Meg Brown at 254-295-4215.
The first baseball camp will be June 8 - 11 for ages 6 through 13 from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $100 per child. The Little Cru camp with be June 22 for ages 4 – 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at $25 per child. For more information contact Micah Wells at 254-295-4619.
Intermediate softball camp will be held June 8 – 10, 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. for ages 7 – 12. Advanced softball camp will be held June 17, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. for ages 13 – 18. The cost is $70 per child. For more information contact Denise Lira at 254-295-5564.
The tennis department will hold two separate camps. The beginner’s camp, for ages 5 through 12, will be 7:30 - 9 a.m. and 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. on June 8 through 11. The second session, a continued beginner’s camp, will be 7:30 - 9 a.m. on June 22 - 25. The cost is $75 per participant. For more information contact James Cohagan at 254-295-4617.
Volleyball summer camp will be July 21st – 23rd. It will be from 9 – 11 a.m., for 5th – 6th graders; 12 – 3 p.m., for 7th – 8th graders; and 4 – 7 p.m., for 9th – 12th graders.
