TROY (May 12, 2009)-Troy Water Department officials say service will be interrupted at intermittent times throughout the week so crews can perform maintenance and make needed changes to the water system.

The work being performed on the system requires the city issue a boil order notice.

Beginning Tuesday, residents in the northwest area of Troy who use city supplied water will need to boil their water before drinking, cooking with or making ice to ensure the destruction of harmful microbes.

The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil, boiled for two minutes and cooled prior to consumption.

City officials say in lieu of boiling, residents should purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

The city says it will issue notice when the water is safe for consumption and it is no longer necessary to boil the water.

Questions regarding the boil order notice should be directed to Troy City Hall at (254) 938-2505.
