(Waco) – The zombie adventure movie RISEN will have its Waco premiere on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 7 pm at the historic Waco Hippodrome Theater in downtown Waco. The 96 minute feature-length film was shot entirely in the Waco area, including locations in Woodway, Lacy Lakeview and Bellmead. Tickets for the movie are $7 each and available at the Waco Hippodrome box office Monday through Friday, 9am to 3 pm. Tickets can be purchased in person or by calling 254-752-9797.

RISEN is the story of Jenny and Sam Mills, who must go in search of their infant daughter when Waco is overtaken by the living dead. Along the way they fight to prove that a parent’s love for a child is a force not even the undead can stop. When the dead have risen, some things are more important than your own survival.

Hundreds of local area people took part as extras playing zombies and survivors during the principal photography of the film. Many members of the crew were students and graduates from Baylor University and TSTC. Other actors and crew traveled to Waco from Los Angles, Dallas, Bryan/College Station, Austin, Houston as well as New Jersey, Iowa and North Dakota. RISEN was released theatrically on November 21, 2008 in a limited run in Indiana and Ohio, and will continue that run this summer on August 8 in select theaters in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin.

RISEN won best picture and best make-up effects at the Chicago Horror Film Festival and won a silver Remi Award at the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival. It has also been showcased at Texas Frightmare Weekend in Dallas. The zombie flick has been picked up for DVD distribution by Quantum Entertainment, and will be released after the theatrical run has ended.

Waco filmmaker Damon Crump directed the motion picture based on a story and screenplay by David Talbot. Director of Photography John Franklin also produced the movie along with Crump and Talbot. RISEN stars Gigi Erneta, Joe Thackery, Jason Harper and Stephen Lee. Crump, Franklin and Lee are Baylor Alums and Talbot is a TSTC graduate. Ad Hoc Pictures and Jackalope Entertainment produced the picture in association with Red Trac Productions and Frame by Frame.
