(Press release)
The current scorching heat that is plaguing the Central Texas area is having a serious impact on those who cannot afford air conditioning. Caritas of Waco is helping many families deal with the heat by providing without charge circulating fans to those in need. Caritas is able to assist families, many of whom include babies and the elderly, who are particularly affected by the weather.
Caritas is asking people to consider supporting its "Fan Club" by donating a new or used electric fan to help clients keep cool. Donors are encouraged to drop off a new or used fan at Caritas, or to make a cash donation to Caritas, which buys fans in large quantities at a discount.
"Caritas clients will be benefitted by the donation, and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped someone deal with an uncomfortable, sometimes dangerous, situation in a very real way," said Buddy Edwards, Executive Director of the agency.
The mission of Caritas is to provide emergency support to those in need in the community.
It is located at 300 South 15th Street in Waco.
Anyone having questions or needing more information should call Caritas at 753-4593.
