(Press release)

The City of Waco has released its 2008 Water Quality Report. The report was mailed to all customers receiving a water bill and is available at all branches of the Waco-McLennan County Library. The report can also be viewed or downloaded online or downloaded online at www.wacowater.com.

The Water Quality Report, also known as a Consumer Confidence Report, is released annually and made available to all customers receiving water service from the city. The report lists any contaminants found in the drinking water, as well as disinfectant levels throughout the previous year.

In addition to the required contaminant reporting, the Water Quality Report contains conservation tips, updates on projects and programs and other data about the water system. This year’s report provides an update on the status of the Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) Treatment Plant construction. The DAF plant will have a dramatic effect on the periodic taste and odor episodes caused by algae in Lake Waco.

Water Quality Reports, or Consumer Confidence Reports, are mandated by 1996 amendments to the Safe Water Act. All public water suppliers that serve the same people year round (community water systems) are required to provide consumer confidence reports (CCR) to their customers by July 1 of each year.
